Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Yooraa ("Platform", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you enter into a legally binding agreement. Please read these Terms carefully before using our service.

01 Acceptance & Eligibility

By using Yooraa you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts. If you are under 18 you may not use this Platform. We will promptly delete any account found to belong to a minor.

Continued use of the Platform after any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify registered users by email of material changes at least 15 days before they take effect.

02 Account Registration

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. You may not create more than one account or impersonate another user. If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately at legal@yooraa.com.

03 Platform Role — Intermediary Only

Yooraa is a venue and communications platform only.

We do not buy, sell, rent, or provide any goods or services ourselves. We are not a party to any transaction between users. We do not inspect, verify, guarantee, or warrant the accuracy, quality, safety, or legality of any listing, and we do not verify the identity or background of any user.

All transactions — including payment, handover of goods, and performance of services — occur entirely outside the Platform. We have no involvement in, oversight of, or responsibility for what happens in those transactions.

04 Listing Rules

By posting a listing you confirm that:

  • All information is accurate, truthful, and not misleading
  • You own the item or have the right to sell, rent, or offer it
  • The listing complies with all applicable Costa Rican laws
  • You own or have the right to use all photos and content uploaded
  • The stated price is your actual asking price (no bait-and-switch)

Buyers are responsible for exercising due diligence before any transaction. We make no guarantee that any listing is available or that the other party will complete the transaction.

Listings automatically expire after 90 days and can be renewed up to 3 times (renewable within 7 days of expiry). Sold listings are automatically removed 30 days after being marked as sold.

05 Prohibited Items & Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on the Platform:

🚫 Illegal drugs & substances

🚫 Weapons & firearms

🚫 Stolen or counterfeit goods

🚫 Human trafficking / sexual services

🚫 Prescription medications

🚫 Hazardous materials

🚫 Pirated / copyright content

🚫 Forged identity documents

Harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, scams, impersonation, and any content that depicts minors in a sexual context are also strictly prohibited. Violations will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.

06 User Content & License

You retain ownership of all content you post (listings, photos, messages). By posting content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute your content solely to operate the Platform.

You confirm that you own or have the right to use all content you post and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.

07 Chat & Communications

In-app chat is provided solely to facilitate contact between users. We do not monitor messages in real time. Prohibited conduct includes harassment, threats, sexual solicitation, spam, scams, and sharing others' personal information without consent.

Once communication moves outside the Platform (WhatsApp, phone, in person) we have no responsibility for those interactions. Conversations are retained until both participants hide them, at which point the conversation and all messages are permanently deleted. You can hide any conversation at any time via the chat menu.

08 Privacy & Data Protection

We process your personal data in accordance with Costa Rica's Law No. 8968 and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). See our full Privacy Policy for details on data collection, use, and your rights.

By adding a WhatsApp number to your profile you expressly consent to that number being visible to all registered users and acknowledge the associated privacy implications. You may remove it at any time.

09 Intellectual Property

All platform content created by us — the Yooraa name, logo, app design, and interface — is our intellectual property and may not be copied or used without permission. To report an infringement, contact legal@yooraa.com.

10 Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that any listing is accurate, available, or safe.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or from transactions conducted outside it. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months.

Nothing here limits liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, nor removes rights that cannot be waived under Costa Rican consumer law (Ley 7472) or applicable EU consumer regulations.

11 Off-Platform Safety

Meeting strangers carries inherent risks.

We strongly recommend meeting in public places, bringing a trusted person, and trusting your instincts. All payment arrangements (cash, Sinpe Móvil, bank transfer, etc.) occur entirely outside the Platform — we have no involvement in or responsibility for payment disputes, fraud, or personal safety incidents.

12 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Yooraa and its operators from claims, damages, losses, costs, and legal fees arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) content you post that infringes third-party rights, or (c) harm you intentionally cause to another user. This clause does not apply to claims arising from our own negligence or breach of these Terms, and does not limit any rights you hold as a consumer under Costa Rican Law No. 7472 or applicable EU consumer regulations.

13 Reporting & Enforcement

To report prohibited content, a fraudulent listing, abusive messages, or a safety concern, contact legal@yooraa.com. We will investigate and may remove content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts at our sole discretion.

Listings that receive 3 or more reports are automatically flagged and may be temporarily hidden pending review. Listing owners are notified when their content is under review. Flags can be cleared by an administrator after review.

We reserve the right to terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or conduct we deem harmful to the Platform or its users.

14 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Disputes shall be subject to the courts of Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica. EU consumers retain the right to bring claims in their local courts under applicable EU consumer protection law, which this clause does not override.

For consumer disputes, you may also contact the Costa Rican National Consumer Commission (CNC) at consumo.go.cr.

15 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 15 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Platform and request account deletion.
